PAINTING LAND AND LIGHT – GREAT DANICH PAINTERSOF THE 19TH CENTURY FROM ECKERSBERG TO HAMMERSHØI
Dr Levisse will explore the period from 1800-1850, covering the work of Eckersberg and his students and will examine The Skagen Painters and Hammershøi. The Skagen painters worked en plein air and represented scenes from ordinary life including fishermen at work, social gatherings and domestic scenes. They are especially renowned for their depictions of light in the long summer evenings.
