Description
This is not a history of the First World War, but its course is followed as the author tells the tale of death and heroism. The men of Saffron Walden went to war along with others from all over Britain, but this is the first complete record of those who failed to return or did not survive. It has to be a satisfaction for Saffron Walden that the full list of heroes should be known. It must also be a comfort to their descendants that their sacrifice is properly acknowledged.
