Saturday 6th May: At 10am in The Market Square the Town Crier of Saffron Walden will cry the Proclamation, joined by Pipe Major James Stewart. This will be followed by a repeat at Walden Castle at 10.25.
Walden Castle will be open from 10am with the live broadcast of The Coronation Service from 10.30am. Food and drink options available on site will also include the provision of hot drinks by Master Coffee! Saffron Walden Museum will also be open and FREE to visit with Coronation Crown crafting available at £2 per child – previously advertised as £5, the outstanding amount will be subsidised by SWTC, with thanks to sponsors of this event.
At 2pm, the bells at St. Mary’s Church will be rung for approximately 30 minutes: Following this, the film Paddington will therefore commence as near to 2.30pm.
Additional to the day-time celebrations is a Coronation Party in Jubilee Garden from 7.30pm to 11pm. Jason ‘DJ Digger’ Coles will take you through the decades and bring you ‘A Right Royal Knees Up!’ A licensed bar and food will be available.
