The Close Garden is just off the High Street, adjacent to a narrow passage leading to St Mary’s Church. It has two benches.
The monument to HMS Lapwing, the town’s adopted ship during World War II, is sited here.
If you are visiting The Close Garden, be sure to look at the unusual 17th century “spider” window on The Close (the timber framed house on the corner of Castle Street).
