Description
A unique vase by Ian Evans of Saffron Walden’s Rockwell Pottery featuring a modern take on Saffron Walden’s traditional incised plasterwork or ‘pargetting’. A flat shield on the front has a grouping of pargetted Saffron crocuses with a vivid gold central focus; these are surrounded by a rough, tactile, gritty border fading out to a ragged edge. The vase section on the reverse features another Saffron crocus in strong relief rising out of a striking, hatched background. The vase section itself has a narrow neck flaring out to a wide base.
