Presenting Dr Amy King and PHD student Roseanne Smith of the British Antartic Survey, University of Cambridge.
How do tiny air bubbles trapped in Antarctic ice reveal the past million years of Earth’s climate history?
Follow us on a journey all the way from the Antarctic continent to laboratories in Cambridge to see how we unlock these secrets in the ice.
We will show you how we collect vertical cylinders of ice up to 3km long from the ice sheet, how we measure the particles and air bubbles entombed inside these ice-cores, and how we ultimately learn about our climate, from an ice covered world to today and beyond…..
Refreshments from 6pm.
