Saffron Walden Town Council, UCAN and Enterprise East CIC are delighted to be collaboratively hosting a Pop-up ‘Community Hub’ event on Tuesday 24th January 2023 at The Garden Room, Jubilee Garden. The event is part of the Great Winter Get Together (16th – 29th January 2023) – a national fortnight highlighted by The Jo Cox Foundation to celebrate the places where people can go to connect this winter.

Across the UK, over 9 million people and 15% of young people face chronic loneliness. With the cost of living crisis making it more difficult for many people to access their usual social activities, local places like The Garden Room – where people can chat and get to know others, will play a vital role in alleviating loneliness this January, throughout the winter months and beyond.

The pop-up ‘Community Hub’ will be open between 1.30pm – 3.30pm where tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be available in a warm, friendly and inclusive environment.  A selection of community partners will be on hand for information and informal chat.  They will include; health & wellbeing, living in food poverty, youth provision, loneliness and isolation, winter warmth issues and more.

SWTC spokesperson said: “In collaboration with UCAN and Enterprise East, Saffron Walden Town Council wanted to take part in this year’s Great Winter Get Together.  Opening The Garden Room for this pop-up event, will see the venue space used positively whilst connecting the community.”
