We are delighted to announce that Toploader will headline after it’s long absence the Carnival Band Night. An English rock band who need no introduction anywhere in the world, they are recognised most of all for their cover of King Harvest’s US hit “Dancing in the Moonlight” written by Sherman Kelly, which became a global hit for the band. The song has over 530 million plays on Spotify and is universally recognised as one of the greatest songs of the decade following its release in 2000.
Their second album, Magic Hotel, reached number 3 in the UK Albums Chart. The band reunited in 2009; they continue to tour at various gigs and record music and Saffron Walden looks forward to welcoming them to the Carnival stage for the first time.
Toploader are from Eastbourne, East Sussex, and formed in 1997, with over two million album sales and a few top 20 hits both home and abroad. Their debut album, Onka’s Big Moka, sold over one million units and peaked in the Top 5 of the UK Albums Chart, where it remained for six months. It earned them four nominations at the 2001 Brit Awards.
As well as this fantastic act, heats will be held at Fairycroft prior to Carnival with the 3 winning bands performing on the main stage. This is a great opportunity for local bands to showcase their talent and play a large venue.
