This week, Saturday 2 September, welcomes Blue Skies Big Band, said a spokesperson of the band “Blue Skies Big Band ( Facebook: blueskiesbb ) have been rehearsing and gigging in the Saffron Walden area for over 25 years and continue to invite & encourage new players and to perform for a number of events, especially fund raising charity events, in various counties in England. In a return to the Saffron Walden Bandstand we hope to get you In the Mood with music from the Glenn Miller Band, Groovin’ along with Dizzy Gillespie and Jamming to Duke Ellington.

The Bandstand Season was originally advertised to conclude on Saturday 19 August. Due to the amazing support and interest from performers, the Saturday lunchtime sessions will continue through until 16 September between 12 noon and 2pm from the bandstand in Jubilee Garden, CB10 1EH – and is FREE to attend . Bands still to perform in forthcoming weeks include Escaping Today and Saffron Walden Town Band. There is no need to book, just bring a chair or blanket, relax and enjoy the music.

From jazz to funk, and choirs to theatrical performances, all genres are covered – there will be something for everyone. Said a Town Council spokesperson, “these casual lunchtime sessions are FREE to attend – no need to book, just pop in, relax and enjoy the music.”
