The Flying Symbols

The Flying Symbols are a four-piece rock band based in the Hertfordshire / Essex border who formed in 2021, although the various band members have plenty of experience in other bands. The line-up consists of vocalist Pete Cornell, bassist John Clements, guitarist Joe Boutell and drummer Mat Drewing. The quartet last performed for SWTC in May as part of The Coronation Big Lunch Celebrations. They will be performing a mixture of classic covers and their own material; Front of house support provided by Fairycroft House.

Saffron Walden’s Summer Bandstand Season…
Saffron Walden Town Council’s Saturday ‘Bandstand Season’ continued last week (12th) with ‘THAT OTHER BAND’. The seven strong ensemble performed music by Bill Withers, Dusty Springfield & Van Morrison plus some Jazz and Latin standards from The American Songbook. Said a band spokesperson, “We welcome invitations for any type of event, to include charity fundraising events.”
The Bandstand Season was originally advertised to conclude this Saturday 19 August. Due to the amazing support and interest from performers, the Saturday lunchtime sessions will continue through until 16 September between 12 noon and 2pm from the bandstand in Jubilee Garden, CB10 1EH – and is FREE to attend . Bands still to perform include The Flying Symbols, ‘Blue Skies Big Band, Escaping Today and Saffron Walden Town Band. There is no need to book, just bring a chair or blanket, relax and enjoy the music.
