Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) reminds residents and businesses that several roads will be closed in and around Saffron Walden town centre for the Freedom of Uttlesford Parade on Sunday 28 July. It starts in Chaters Hill at 11.00 and finishes in Market Place.
Said Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Garath Dawson RE, “33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search) is immensely honoured to be permitted to exercise our treasured Freedom of Uttlesford with a parade through Saffron Walden on Sunday 28th August 2024. We hope the parade will act as a long-awaited celebration of our strong ties with the local community, and as an expression of deep gratitude for their unwavering support.
We wish to minimise disruption and extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents and businesses for their cooperation. Our commitment to enabling the British Army to fight and win wars on land through a first-class Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search capability remains steadfast. Your support in this endeavour is hugely valued, and we look forward to this memorable occasion.”
The following roads will be closed from 07:00 until 14:00 on Sunday 28 July 2024: Market Place, Market Hill, Market Street, Butcher Row, Cross Street, Market Row and Chaters Hill. Rolling road closures will be in place from 10:00 until 13:00 on Ashdon Road (between Chaters Hill & Common Hill), Church Street, Museum Street and High Street (between Church Street & King Street)
