The celebrations continue on Sunday 7th May with the ‘Coronation Big Lunch’ at 11.30am until 4pm in Jubilee Garden. Live music in the band stand will be co-ordinated by Fairycroft House: not to be missed is Saffron Walden Town Band who will be first up at 11.30! Refreshments will be available, and the charity tombola includes some wonderful prizes from local businesses, including an iPad donated by Force36.
The live open-air streaming of the BBC Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle will include its own light show involving projections and lasers: attendees will have the opportunity to request their own message (max 10 words) at the start of the evening: doors will open at 6.30pm with the concert starting at 8pm.
Licensed bars by Ginporium and Dead Time and hot drinks by Master Coffee will be available on site – but please do not forget to “Pick up a picnic fit for a King” from a selection of Saffron Walden food businesses. From seafood platters to traditional high tea and cake, local restaurants and cafes have come together, with the help of the Saffron Walden BID, to offer a wide range of food options. For those attending the Coronation Concert, please pre-order directly with the restaurant or café and agree your collection time, allowing enough time to make yourself comfortable at Walden Castle prior to the concert starting at 8pm.
