Saffron Walden Heritage Development Group is pleased to announce the launch of two new initiatives. The first is a new Medieval Walden leaflet, written by Carolyn Wingfield, Curator at Saffron Walden Museum, and designed and photographed by Fraser Parry of Fraser Parry Photography. The second is a twenty minute video on Medieval Walden filmed and edited by Paul Bellany of Creative Walden.
Both initiatives look at the story of how the Saxon manor of Walden became medieval Chipping Walden and then Saffron Walden, tracing the town’s development through its archaeological sites, street plan and buildings.
The leaflet is available to pick up at the Tourist Information Centre, whilst the film is available to see below.
Both are part of the Heritage Group’s community engagement for their Battle Ditch project, with funding supplied by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
