We welcome you to The Cricketers at Clavering; a delightful 16th century English Country Inn with award winning food and accommodation, roaring log fires, beamed ceilings, well-kept cask ales and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The Cricketers is situated in the charming, rural village of Clavering, North Essex, near to the borders of both Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire and boasts lovely country walks and thatched cottages.
Near to Stansted Airport and close to the historic market town of Saffron Walden and Audley End House, The Cricketers is also convenient for Cambridge, the Newmarket Race Courses and the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Also very popular with guests attending weddings at Parklands, Quendon Hall, just four miles away. Here at The Cricketers, we take the sourcing of really good produce and ingredients very seriously; the meat is properly hung and the fish is always fresh, using local, seasonal and organic where possible.
The entire menus are expertly prepared on the premises by our team of creative and talented chefs led by our Head Chef, Justin Greig, who is passionate about using excellent produce. We make fresh bread for our guests every day and make good use of locally grown fruit and vegetables. Our lovely, clean and inexpensive Accommodation Rooms are very popular for business and pleasure alike – good food being a core ingredient of a stay at The Cricketers.
